Biography

Taylor Caskey

Hello, visitor. Welcome to my corner of MusicaNeo. I'm a 22-year-old self-taught amateur music composer. Unfortunately, I do not have any formal education in music theory or music composition. However, I do have a decent amount of experience, as my journey into writing music dates back several years.

I do not know specifically when my interest in music composition first started. However, I believe it was at some point when I was thirteen, when I came across film music on the internet and it fascinated me. I had ideas of my own pop in to my mind and decided that I wanted to try to make them come to life.

Most of what I've learned about music theory has come from either several books I've read or whatever I've come across the internet. Especially recently, my preferred way to try to learn how to write better music is by analyzing sheet music that I come across on the internet, especially from the composers of past periods.

While I am a massive fan of the well-known and famous composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, and so on, I've tried to look for some less known composers. I've especially been searching for composers who wrote works for certain ensembles, to try to get a better idea of how to write better music that fits said ensemble. Luigi Boccherini's compositions are a significant influence on my work with string quartets and quintets; while I've struggled to find a favorite composer for brass ensemble, i find Viktor Ewald's brass ensembles captivating. My favorite wind quartets are the ones written by Vincenzo Gambaro.

The compositions I create vary in scope, as they range from solo and accompanied sonata instruments to allow an instrument to shine, to duets which speak in musical dialogue and harmonic and moving chamber music in ensembles ranging from trios to nonets.

Beyond digital sheet music, I've also delved into digital production of music (still mostly orchestral), through FL Studio. Some of the sheet music that you may see on this site will be transcriptions of these digital creations.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site. Whether you're an individual performer or an orchestra conductor looking for something new to add to your repertoire, I hope that you'll find something here you enjoy.
